Introducing Movestax: From Cloud Migration to the Future of Serverless for Startups and Developers

Hey everyone! We’re beyond excited to finally share our story and introduce Movestax to the world. This isn’t just a platform launch — it’s the culmination of our journey, the lessons we’ve learned, and our belief that the cloud can be simpler, faster, and more accessible to everyone, especially in Brazil and LATAM. So, let me take you through the pivot that brought Movestax to life.

The Founders Behind Movestax

First, let’s rewind a bit. Movestax was founded by a group of Brazilians based in the US with deep experience in the cloud world. We’ve spent years working for some of the biggest names in tech, from Microsoft to AWS, building critical services like Amazon Glue, Azure SQL DB and many others. We’ve seen firsthand how powerful cloud infrastructure can be, but also how complex and overwhelming it is for developers and startups.

Like many great ideas, Movestax was born out of frustration — frustration with the current state of cloud platforms and how they often fail to cater to the specific needs of early-stage startups, indie hackers, and developers working on their own projects. We’ve been in the trenches, and we knew we could do something different.

The Pivot: From Cloud Migration to Something Bigger

Originally, Movestax started as a cloud migration platform aimed at helping enterprises move their workloads to the cloud. But we quickly hit a wall. The long sales cycles, one-time engagements, and conflicts with system integrators trying to build their own migration tools made it clear that this wasn’t the right path for us. We saw a conflict of interest and, most importantly, we realized that we weren’t passionate about what we were building.

That’s when we decided it was time to pivot. We fired the developers we had, cut our costs drastically, and I personally returned to coding full-time (Thiago Caserta here). I also started reconnecting with the people who inspired me the most — the indie hackers in the US and a growing community of micro-SaaS builders in Brazil.

And that’s when it hit us. The cloud should be empowering these people — the creators — who are building side projects, MVPs, and early-stage startups. But the existing platforms were too expensive, too complex, or not localized enough for these communities.

And that’s how Movestax was born — a serverless cloud platform designed to help developers and startups deploy and scale their applications quickly and without hassle. We’re focusing on Brazil and LATAM because we believe that local infrastructure matters. It reduces latency, ensures better compliance with local laws like the LGPD, and gives developers in these regions the support they deserve.

We’re officially launching Movestax Public Beta on November 29th, 2024 with a free tier and a pro plan that offers a fixed subscription price. For those with heavier usage, we’ll also offer a pay-as-you-go model to ensure flexibility as you scale.

And here’s what we’re really excited about: we’ll also be providing a launch directory, where you can showcase your projects to the world. We want to create a place where developers and startup founders can not only build but also connect, collaborate, and grow together.

2025: The Year of the Software Builder

We believe 2025 is going to be the year of the software builder. With AI making it easier than ever to develop projects, everyone — whether you’re a solo indie hacker or a small startup — will have the ability to create and launch side projects, micro-SaaS, or info products.
